Tips for renting in Dijon
Dijon's city centre is remarkably flat and easy to navigate by bike. The cycling lanes that run alongside the tramway provide safe, direct routes across town. Avoid the pedestrian streets around the Palais des Ducs during peak hours and stick to the marked bike paths instead.
The Route des Grands Crus heading south toward Beaune is the must-do ride. The roughly thirty-kilometre route passes through Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot and Nuits-Saint-Georges, winding between prestigious vineyard plots. An e-bike is strongly recommended if you plan to do the return trip in a single day, especially with tasting stops along the way.
For a more relaxed ride, the Canal de Bourgogne towpath is entirely flat and car-free. It stretches for many kilometres and is well suited to families or casual riders looking for a peaceful outing. The Parc de la Colombière near the city centre also offers a pleasant, shaded loop.
Check with your rental provider about return conditions, especially if you plan a full-day excursion to the Côte de Beaune. Some shops offer flexible drop-off arrangements for longer rides.
