Tips for renting in Paris
For a private cruise (birthday, seminar, wedding), book several weeks ahead, especially between May and September and for weekends. The most sought-after vessels — glassed-in launches, catered barges — fill up quickly.
Licence-free electric boats are the most accessible option for a spontaneous outing. Most rent by the hour or half-day and require only a valid ID and a credit-card pre-authorisation. A quick safety briefing is given at the pontoon before departure.
Check weather conditions and navigation schedules: some stretches of the Seine are off-limits to small craft during tour-boat passing hours. The police prefecture can also suspend recreational navigation during floods or large events.
Bring sunscreen, water and a windbreaker even in summer. On the water, the breeze picks up fast and the pontoons are in full sun. Flat-soled, non-marking shoes are often required on board.
For a catered private event, ask for an all-inclusive quote covering the captain, fuel (or electric charge), cleaning and insurance. Published online rates are rarely the final price.
