Tips for renting in Bordeaux
Book your gear a few days before you leave, especially during the February and March school holidays. Demand is concentrated in short windows and common sizes go first.
Clubs like Stade Bordelais Ski Snow sometimes offer preferential rates to members, combined with organised trips to Pyrenean resorts. Ask about family packs (several pairs of skis plus boots at a group rate).
Have the bindings adjusted on-site: rental shops set the release tension based on your weight, height and skill level, which is both an insurance requirement and a safety essential. Keep the adjustment card.
Plan for transport: you'll need roof bars or a roof box for a comfortable drive. Some Bordeaux rental shops include transport bags in the rate, protecting the gear and your car interior.
Outside ski season (December to April), the same providers often rent hiking and trail-running gear, useful for summer escapes into the Pyrenees.
